To all 1st Gen. iPhone owners out there,
FYI, recently I had uploaded the customized iPhone Firmware 2.0 which I created using the Pwnage & used it to upgrade my own 1st generation iPhone (not 3G version) to the MegaUpload site for your usage.
What this custom Firmware will do as stated below:
- Lastest iPhone FW 2.0 software features & upgrade which include the access to new offical App Store by Apple.
- Update your iPhone baseband & unlock it to let you use any SIM card or mobile network.
- Jailbreak your iPhone & come with new Installer called Cydia to let you install the unofficial 3rd party apps (which not available in App Store such as the summerboard, etc.)
Below is simple step-by-step about how to upgrade your iPhone to this latest FW:
1. Before you carry-out the upgrade, remember to backup your iPhone data for the last-time by syncing the iPhone with your iTunes.
2. Download the file called “iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Custom_Restore.ipsw” (234.28 MB) from the following link & save it on your desktop:

3. Turn off your iPhone, Connect USB cable to your iPhone and open iTunes.
4. Next, you need to get your iPhone into DFU (Device Firmware Update):
a) Hold Home and Sleep Buttons for 10 seconds
b) After 10 seconds release Sleep Button
c) Continue Holding Home Button for 10 more seconds
5. If you performed the steps above correctly you will see this message in iTunes. (If not, repeat the steps above again)
6. Once you see the above message, you will see there’s only Restore button you could click on the summary of iTunes “summary” page.
7. Next, you are to restore your iPhone using the “iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Custom_Restore.ipsw” that you downloaded just now by using the following steps:
a) Hold down the Option/ALT-key (Mac) or SHIFT key (Windows) on your keyboard while clicking on the Restore button.
b) A file browsing dialog should appear, and you must select the firmware file “iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Custom_Restore.ipsw”
c) Then, the iTunes will restore your iPhone with this new firmware.
8. The above restore process will take around 15-20mins and once finish restoration.
9. Then, the iPhone will reboot by itself and boot in the new FW (which you will see the bited Pineapple instead of bited Apple).
10. Remember not to disconnect or do anything with your iPhone during this reboot as the new FW will continue run the unlock & jailbreak configurations (which takes another 5-10mins).
11. Once the above is completed, then the iPhone will reboot again and this time, it will bring to the iPhone main home-screen which you could now sync the data that you backup just now in 1st step to restore all your data.
12. Finally, you have finish this iPhone custom 2.0 FW upgrade process and enjoy discover the new features, Apps Store and many more official or unofficial 3rd party apps for iPhone … below is a sample screenshot of my iPhone with this custom 2.0 FW, looks cool huh.
